Job summary

Kota is building a powerful pension and spend platform in Ireland, hiring a Senior Product Engineer for the Investments team. You will own backend systems, design integrations with pension providers and Stripe, and contribute to frontend when needed.

You’ll work in a fast-growing startup with an autonomous role, shaping the roadmap, and applying AI to accelerate delivery. The role is remote-first with opportunities to collaborate in Dublin and across Europe.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building backend systems in production.
• Experience designing and maintaining integrations with third-party APIs.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, event-driven patterns, and building for correctness and auditability.
• A clear communicator who can talk to engineers and customers, and knows which version to use with which audience.
• A product mindset and a bias to bring ideas, not just execute them, proactively adding to the roadmap.
• Ownership mindset; push back when a problem is misunderstood.
• Focus on reliability, security and compliance in a fast-growing startup.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the systems that power Kota's Investments products; pensions, retirement savings and Spend: contributions, onboarding, provider integrations, employer-facing configuration, card issuing and wallet provisioning.
• Own technical architecture for the Investments stream, integrating with external pension and savings providers as well as payment and card infrastructure (Stripe).
• Contribute to frontend code (React + TypeScript) when a feature calls for it.
• Join client calls to understand and articulate problems, shaping the roadmap beyond tickets.
• Use AI actively in day-to-day work to speed up shipping.
• Contribute to code reviews and technical planning, keeping systems observable.
• Help shape how the Investments team works as it grows.
