Job summary

Kota is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join the API team within Kota Embed. You will own the APIs, SDKs and documentation that let HR and payroll platforms offer insurance and retirement benefits. This is a full-stack role with emphasis on backend, but you’ll tackle frontend when needed.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production software with ownership of products
• Ability to explain user problems and choices and their impact on customers
• Experience with APIs or integrations in fintech, payroll, pensions or benefits is a plus
• AI-native ways of working for planning, setup and review, not just autocomplete
• Clear communicator who can explain decisions to engineers and customers

Responsibilities

• Design and build APIs, SDKs and docs for Kota Embed
• Understand developers and customers problems and translate to product decisions
• Join client calls to clarify problems or explain solutions
• Own work end to end from scoping to delivery and post-launch support
• Work across the stack wherever needed
• Push back when requests misalign with the problem and contribute ideas to the roadmap
• Use AI throughout planning, building, reviewing and shipping
• Keep systems reliable, secure and observable
• Help shape team processes as it grows
