Job summary

Dell Technologies in Cork, Ireland, is hiring for a Software Principal Engineer (8 openings) to join the Unstructured Data Storage group within ISG and help shape AI-powered storage platforms like PowerScale and ObjectScale.

You will lead design and implementation across the software development lifecycle, collaborate with product owners, architects, and AI agents, and mentor junior engineers while leveraging advanced AI tooling to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience in programming (C/C++/Java/Python)
• Experience in filesystem/distributed systems
• Translate business requirements into precise technical specs
• Excellent analytical, debugging & problem solving skills
• Experience in software architecture: system design, API design, microservices, distributed systems

Responsibilities

• Work on all aspects of software development life cycle: planning, requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Author and manage detailed technical specifications.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, AI agents and other engineers to define and implement technical solutions.
• Coach and mentor more junior team members
