Job summary

Dell Technologies' Unstructured Data Storage group in Cork is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and implement scalable storage platforms such as PowerScale and ObjectScale, contributing to the full software lifecycle.

You will work with C and/or Python, Linux internals, and modern networking, mentoring teammates and delivering high-velocity, high-quality software for enterprise-scale data challenges.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related engineering experience.
• Strong skills in C and/or Python; willingness to learn across the stack.
• Excellent understanding of modern Linux, including the kernel, drivers, containers, early boot, and other low-level technologies.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Self driven, detail oriented, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks from design to implementation.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and architecture of our industry-leading modern storage platforms and take part in the full software development life cycle, including development, test, continuous delivery, and maintenance.
• Create detailed technical designs for new features and improvements. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all areas.
• Work on discovery tasks and proof of concepts around modern networking solutions
• Implement company standards and practices to ensure quality and security.
• Coach and mentor more junior team members.
