Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff to help build the next generation of our core engineering platforms and automation systems—infrastructure that thousands of engineers rely on daily. You will mentor engineers, influence architecture, and drive delivery across multi-region systems.

You will design scalable infrastructure using Java, AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform, while shaping the technical roadmap and collaborating with leadership to align with business priorities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience with Java and AWS.
• Strong understanding of the Salesforce Platform APIs (Metadata, Tooling, REST), declarative automation (Flows), and security model (Profiles, Permission Sets).
• A track record of architecting large-scale distributed systems serving thousands of users.
• Deep experience with AWS networking, security, and serverless services.
• Hands-on expertise with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, service mesh, advanced orchestration patterns).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code at scale, using Terraform Enterprise or custom-built solutions.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD platform architecture, including Jenkins Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and custom pipeline orchestration.
• Understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven patterns, and platform scalability challenges.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical topics clearly to varied audiences, including senior leadership.
• Degree or equivalent relevant experience (evaluation based on core competencies).

Responsibilities

• Design and build large-scale, multi-region infrastructure platforms and automation systems that directly improve the developer experience.
• Contribute to the technical strategy and roadmap for our core engineering platform's evolution and modernization, keeping it aligned with business priorities.
• Lead proof-of-concepts, evaluate emerging technologies, and run platform research to keep our engineering capabilities current.
• Analyze complex, large-scale systems to find and fix root causes of instability, performance bottlenecks, or technical debt.
• Mentor engineers with hands-on technical guidance and code-level support.
• Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to engineering peers, partner teams, and leadership.
