Job summary

Ward Personnel is seeking a Mechanical Lead for a Power Generation project on a major site in West Dublin, Ireland. You will own the mechanical scope from installation through testing, completion, and handover, interfacing with commissioning teams and managing on-site safety and quality.

The role demands a strong mechanical engineering background, 5+ years leading mechanical works on energy or heavy industrial projects, and hands-on knowledge of piping and rotating equipment.

Qualifications

• A mechanical engineering qualification or strong pipefitting/mechanical fitting background with progression into site leadership.
• 5+ years experience leading mechanical works on energy, oil & gas, pharma, data centre or heavy industrial projects.
• Hands-on knowledge of piping systems, rotating equipment and plant installation.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the mechanical package including engine auxiliaries, fuel gas/oil systems, lube oil, cooling, HVAC and fire protection.
• Manage mechanical sub-contractors and OEM vendor teams, ensuring safety, programme and specification adherence.
• Plan and sequence works on a congested site with multiple trades and heavy lifting operations.
• Review P&IDs, isometrics, layouts and vendor documentation; raise and close technical queries with design team.
• Drive the quality agenda: ITPs, weld and NDT records, hydrostatic/pneumatic testing, flushing, cleanliness.
• Build system turnover packages and collaborate with commissioning for handover.
• Lead progress meetings; report status, risks and look-ahead plans to Project Manager.
• Model safety leadership with permits to work, lifting plans, hot works, confined spaces, hazardous area compliance.
• Manage punch lists, as-built records and O&M documentation through to final handover.
