Job summary

Abbott in Kilkenny is seeking an experienced Machine Vision Engineer to apply engineering and scientific knowledge to develop, validate, and deploy vision solutions for automated manufacturing lines. You will lead Cognex Insight/Vision Suite projects, review code, and collaborate with QA and Operations to standardize practices across sites.

Key responsibilities include implementing vision inspections, leading technology upgrades, and mentoring engineering colleagues in vision techniques.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in engineering, science, or closely related discipline is desired.
Minimum of 5 years machine vision experience in a regulated, high-volume manufacturing environment.
Expertise with Cognex Insight/Vision Suite hardware and software.
Experience with optics, lighting, troubleshooting, and vision algorithm development interfacing with PLC/HMI.
Completed Cognex Insight/Vision Suite Advanced Spreadsheet Training.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct small- to medium-size engineering projects within an engineering specialty.
Manage multiple, concurrent projects with schedules and execution plans.
Maintain project controls for cost, scope and schedule; develop execution strategy.
Perform economic analyses and feasibility studies related to project alternatives.
Lead data collection and analysis to identify insights and opportunities for improvement.
Design and lead complex experiments; document findings and recommendations.
Collaborate with QA, Operations, Engineering and other functions.
Provide vision training for engineering personnel.
