Job summary

GCS is seeking an experienced System Engineer to design, implement and operate cloud-native infrastructure with a focus on Kubernetes platforms and automation. The role demands hands-on work across containerisation, Terraform, Ansible and CI/CD pipelines to scale and sustain production systems.

You will collaborate with service owners, explore new cloud-native tools and drive improvements in reliability, security and efficiency within a hybrid Dublin-based environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in systems production engineering and infrastructure.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, security, policies and platform operations.
• Strong software development experience in Python and/or Golang.
• Experience developing or customizing Kubernetes operators/controllers is a strong advantage.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible; familiarity with Flux and/or ArgoCD.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate Kubernetes-based infrastructure.
• Provide technical consultation to service owners on infrastructure needs.
• Work across containerisation, compute and network management tools; DNS, LDAP and DHCP.
• Develop Python and/or Go, Ansible and Terraform automation for Kubernetes platforms.
• Leverage AI tools to improve cloud infrastructure build, scale and maintenance.
• Improve monitoring/alerting with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Write and deploy infrastructure as code using GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Research new tools and methodologies to improve platform reliability and security.
• Troubleshoot complex production infrastructure and Kubernetes issues; contribute to root-cause analysis.
