AECOM is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead HV substation design across UK & Ireland, based in Dublin with hybrid work. You will guide FEED and detailed design, manage multi-project portfolios, and collaborate with major energy clients on world-class infrastructure.

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience in consultancy, contractor or utility within energy sector.
Client experience with National Grid, ESB, EirGrid, SHET, SSE, SPT or similar UK/Ireland utility.
FEED designer, detailed design or owner’s engineer experience.
HV plant infrastructure knowledge incl. AIS and GIS.
Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain client focus.

Responsibilities

Produce primary layouts for HV substations.
Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
Develop optimum cable routes considering length, thermal, and land use.
Prepare HV plant equipment specifications.
Develop specifications with technology specialists and external partners.
Create tender specifications and evaluate tenders.
Provide design assurance of tender documentation and supplier meetings.
Review supplier designs during construction, conduct manufacturing audits, and support FAT/commissioning.
Be a trusted partner to key clients.
Mentor junior team members.
