Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director to lead HV substation design across a portfolio of energy infrastructure projects based in the UK or Ireland. You will guide technical delivery from concept through energisation, coordinating with engineering teams and clients to ensure high-quality outcomes.

You will mentor engineers, manage interfaces, and contribute to safety, cost control, and programme delivery while leveraging a hybrid work model and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering HV infrastructure design at concept, FEED, and detailed design stages.
• Strong understanding of electrical AC HV plant and equipment (AIS/GIS).
• Proven capability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage client interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV substation technical discussions with clients and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Direct technical delivery of substation design projects from concept to energisation.
• Apply lifecycle design expertise from grid studies to detailed design and delivery.
