Job summary

Elgin is seeking a Senior HV Engineer to be the technical authority on grid connection for our utility-scale solar and storage projects across the UK and Ireland. You will lead development-stage engineering, review HV designs, and ensure conformance with network standards while coordinating with ICPs, iDNOs and EPCs.

Based in Ireland with travel to project sites in the UK and Ireland, you will shape feasibility, route optioneering, and planning inputs, driving risk and CAPEX alignment through

Qualifications

• BEng / MEng in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive HV and grid connection experience on UK/IE projects.
• Knowledge of GB/IE connection processes (G99, agreements, schedules).
• Experience with development-stage grid work, planning inputs, land agreements.
• Ability to read and challenge network study outputs.

Responsibilities

• Lead development-stage grid method and optioning for connections.
• Define substation footprint and cable routes for planning applications.
• Produce concept-level diagrams for feasibility and tendering.
• Review grid studies and ensure alignment with Employer's Requirements.
• Own interface with ICP, iDNO and EPC contracts to define scope.
• Ensure compliance with G99 and network operator standards.
