Delta Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior HR Generalist to join our HR team and play a key role in supporting our people, managers and wider organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working across all areas of HR, from employee relations and recruitment to compliance, employee engagement, organisational development and HR projects.
Working closely with the HR Manager, Senior Management Team, Service Managers and Department Managers, the Senior HR Generalist will provide professional, practical and trusted HR advice and support across Delta Services.
We are looking for someone who can work independently, take ownership of their responsibilities and confidently manage sensitive and complex HR matters, while also being a collaborative and supportive member of a busy HR team.
About the Role
The Senior HR Generalist will provide comprehensive HR support throughout the employee lifecycle, helping to ensure that HR practices are fair, consistent, compliant and aligned with the values and objectives of Delta Services.
The role will have a strong focus on employee relations, recruitment, HR compliance, employee experience, HR systems and organisational development, with opportunities to contribute to and lead on a range of HR projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Provide professional day-to-day HR advice and support to managers and employees.
- Support managers with disciplinary, grievance, performance and attendance matters.
- Provide guidance on difficult conversations and the effective management of employee issues.
- Assist with formal and informal investigations and complex employee relations matters.
- Support mediation and informal resolution processes where appropriate.
- Identify potential employee relations risks and elevate matters appropriately.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and comprehensive HR records.
Recruitment & Employee Lifecycle
- Manage and coordinate recruitment processes in partnership with hiring managers.
- Support workforce planning, job descriptions, vacancy advertising, shortlisting and interviews.
- Provide guidance to managers on effective and fair recruitment and selection processes.
- Ensure appropriate pre-employment checks and documentation are completed.
- Deliver a professional and positive candidate experience.
- Coordinate effective onboarding and induction of new employees.
- Support managers throughout probation, employee development and the employee lifecycle.
- Ensure appropriate exit processes are followed, including exit interviews and documentation.
- Support recruitment campaigns, career fairs and workforce initiatives as required.
HR Compliance, Governance & Safeguarding
- Monitor HR compliance requirements and maintain relevant compliance registers and tracking systems.
- Maintain accurate workforce compliance information and monitor regulatory deadlines.
- Support organisational audits, inspections and governance requirements.
- Ensure employee records are maintained in line with GDPR and organisational standards.
- Maintain confidential workforce information and appropriate retention requirements.
- Support safeguarding and Trust in Care processes.
- Act as an Authorised Liaison Person and manage Garda Vetting requirements.
- Liaise with the National Vetting Bureau and coordinate Garda Vetting and international police clearance processes.
- Monitor re-vetting requirements and ensure ongoing compliance.
Absence & Attendance Management
- Support managers in effectively managing employee absence in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance on return-to-work processes and attendance management.
- Support managers in addressing persistent or recurring absence.
- Monitor absence and attendance trends and identify emerging concerns.
- Maintain appropriate medical and HR documentation and elevate issues where required.
- Support the development, implementation and review of HR policies and procedures.
- Provide practical guidance to managers to promote consistent and fair HR practices.
- Keep up to date with developments in Irish employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Support HR audits, compliance reviews and policy implementation.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, policies and employee documentation.
- Support organisational change and the implementation of agreed HR initiatives.
HR Projects & Organisational Development
The Senior HR Generalist will contribute to and lead on a range of HR and organisational development initiatives, including:
- Employee engagement and employee experience initiatives.
- Staff retention and wellbeing initiatives.
- Training and development programmes.
- Workforce planning initiatives.
- HR audits and compliance projects.
- Policy and procedure reviews.
- Organisational change projects.
- Employee communications and culture initiatives.
- Continuous improvement and HR process development.
HR Systems, Data & Reporting
- Produce accurate HR reports and management information.
- Monitor HR data, workforce trends and key HR indicators.
- Maintain accurate HR systems, employee records and workforce databases.
- Maintain workforce compliance data and tracking systems.
- Provide managers with relevant HR information to support operational and workforce planning decisions.
- Review and improve HR systems, processes, templates and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and consistency across HR processes.
- Promote best practice and continuous improvement across the HR function.
About You
We are looking for an experienced HR professional who is confident working across a broad range of HR activities and is comfortable providing advice to managers at all levels.
You will have:
- Significant experience working in a generalist HR role 5+ years
- Strong knowledge of Irish employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Proven experience managing employee relations matters.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to provide confident, practical and professional HR advice.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Experience using HR software systems
- The ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Sound judgement and the confidence to deal with complex and challenging situations.
- The ability to work independently, take ownership and manage competing priorities.
- A proactive approach to identifying improvements and developing HR practices.
- Strong IT, HR systems and data management skills.
- A genuine interest in employee engagement, organisational culture and people development.
- CIPD Accreditation or working towards same
- 4+ years experience working in the Healthcare sector
