Job summary

MongoDB is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Observability team responsible for metrics, logs, traces, and alerts that monitor customer deployments. You will guide a high-performing group of engineers and engineering managers, driving the design, operation, and scale of our observability stack.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 4+ years of people management and performance management.
• Experience leading large teams or engineering managers.
• Led teams that built and maintained large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience delivering operationally solid systems with high engineering standards.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coach a large team of engineers (up to 10).
• Contribute to design, infrastructure, and architecture of high-volume ingestion systems.
• Collaborate with product managers and other teams to prioritize and deliver features.
• Estimate task complexity, report progress, and manage risks.
• Participate in on-call rotations and work with customers to resolve issues.
• Improve health, design principles, and best practices of codebase and on-call rotation.
• Drive reliability, monitoring, and performance of observability services.
• Participate in growing the team through hiring.
• Foster an inclusive and respectful work environment.
