Hybrid: 2–3 days per week onsite in Co. Donegal
CompuStaff is recruiting a Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer for a major global financial services organisation undergoing significant technology transformation.
This is a senior, hands‑on role focused on modernising CI/CD, building scalable cloud platforms and improving operational reliability across AWS, Azure and on‑premises environments. You’ll help development teams adopt better engineering practices while shaping the tools, standards and automation used across the organisation.
What You’ll Do
- Standardise CI/CD using GitHub Actions, including reusable workflows, composite actions, runner strategy, approvals and quality gates.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, CloudFormation and Ansible.
- Build secure, reliable deployment pipelines supporting blue/green and canary releases.
- Implement GitOps deployment and environment‑promotion patterns using tools such as Argo CD, Flux, Helm or Kustomize.
- Work with engineering teams to understand technical challenges and deliver practical platform solutions.
- Establish SRE practices, including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, runbooks, automated remediation and service‑health dashboards.
- Improve observability across production services using metrics, logs and distributed tracing.
- Embed security controls into CI/CD workflows and support incident response, platform hardening and audit readiness.
- Help introduce effective FinOps practices covering cloud‑cost visibility, tagging, budgeting, rightsizing and optimisation.
- Develop automation using Python, Shell, PowerShell, JavaScript or Groovy.
What You’ll Bring
- Approximately 4-6 years’ experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering or SRE.
- Strong hands‑on experience with AWS and/or Azure.
- Advanced CI/CD experience, ideally using GitHub Actions, with exposure to Jenkins migrations or integrations.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes and cloud container platforms such as EKS, ECS or AKS.
- Experience with production monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana or OpenTelemetry.
- Good understanding of networking, DNS, routing, messaging and microservices.
- Working knowledge of cloud security, IAM, secrets management, logging and vulnerability remediation.
- Automation or development experience using Python, JavaScript, Groovy, Shell or PowerShell.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers and business stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- AWS or Azure certifications.
- Experience implementing SRE principles and measurable service‑level objectives.
- Exposure to SAST, DAST, software composition analysis or cloud‑security posture management.
This is an excellent opportunity to influence the direction of a major platform‑engineering transformation rather than simply maintaining an established environment.
Please note that this is a hybrid position requiring attendance at the company’s Co. Donegal office 2–3 days per week. It is not a fully remote role.
