Job summary

Cumming Group is seeking a Cost Manager to join our European team. You will deliver cost estimates, procurement advice, and post-contract administration for construction projects across Ireland and beyond.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cost consultancy or quantity surveying, ideally in professional services.
• MRICS, AssocRICS or equivalent chartered status (or working towards).
• Solid knowledge of Irish procurement forms and contract types.

Responsibilities

• Review, interpret, and prepare cost estimates across all design/construction stages.
• Lead and manage client accounts, including meetings and strategic input.
• Review contracts and participate in negotiations; manage change orders.
• Support cost controls and cashflow forecasting throughout projects.
• Mentor junior cost consultants within the team.

About the Role

As a Cost Manager in our European team, you will provide expert-level cost consultancy and project support for construction projects across various stages and sectors—from concept design to construction completion. You will be responsible for delivering estimates, procurement advice, and post-contract administration, working independently or managing a team, depending on project size and scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, interpret, and prepare cost estimates across all stages of design and construction.
• Provide procurement advice, contractor tender analysis, and recommendation reports.
• Lead and manage client accounts, including attending key meetings and providing strategic input.
• Review contracts and participate in contract negotiations.
• Evaluate change orders and contractor pricing throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage contract administration activities and support construction phase cost controls.
• Deliver continuous cost management services, including value engineering and cashflow forecasting.
• Prepare and review project plans, fee proposals, and internal resourcing plans.
• Support senior management with client reporting, performance tracking, and commercial input.
• Mentor and develop junior cost consultants and commercial managers within the team.
• Represent Cumming Group at industry events, with a focus on business development and network building.

What You Bring

• Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years in cost consultancy or quantity surveying, ideally within a professional services environment.
• Professional Accreditation: MRICS, AssocRICS, or equivalent chartered status (or working towards).
• Strong knowledge of construction technology, local procurement and tendering practices, and Irish standard forms of contract (RIAI, GCCC).
• Understanding of construction law, tax implications, insurance, and delivery methodologies in the Irish market.
• Excellent commercial awareness and experience delivering projects across a range of sectors.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
• Confidence in managing multiple priorities and delivering under pressure in a dynamic work environment.
