Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking an Automation Manager to join our Cork site in the Site Engineering organization. You will lead automation and manufacturing systems, driving reliability, lifecycle, compliance, and the strategy for manufacturing automation and data platforms.

The role requires eight years in GMP manufacturing, three years of people management, and hands-on experience with PLC/HMI, robotics, and data systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline required.
• Eight years of experience in GMP-regulated manufacturing or related environment.
• Three years of people-management experience.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting automation and control systems in live production.
• Experience delivering automated equipment through design, integration, commissioning, validation, ramp-up.
• Knowledge of PLC/HMI, robotics, industrial networks, and data platforms.
• Project management experience and English fluency; ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Lead site automation support model for production-critical equipment and systems.
• Diagnose and resolve faults across PLC/HMI, robotics, motion, vision, networks, historians, and data platforms.
• Lead automation activities for new equipment from concept to ramp-up and handover.
• Define automation architectures, controls standards, data requirements, cybersecurity, interfaces, diagnostics, maintainability.
• Own site roadmap and lifecycle plan for manufacturing systems including OT networks and data historians.
• Develop and deliver a prioritized automation roadmap, investment plan, project portfolio, and resource strategy.
• Support investigations, CAPAs, audits, and regulatory inspections; ensure timely closure.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing inclusive team with budget and capacity management.
