Job summary

McInerney's Shop in Ireland seeks an experienced retail supervisor to lead daily operations, support staff, and maintain high standards across service, stock and deli areas. You will oversee tills, stock ordering, and promotions, while ensuring a welcoming shop environment for customers and the local community.

The role requires at least 3 years in retail, a Level 5 qualification, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends in a full-time position.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years retail experience.
• Level 5 qualification (Leaving Certificate or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Supervising and supporting staff during daily operations.
• Leading by example and maintaining a positive, professional working environment.
• Allocating tasks and ensuring staff are clear on their responsibilities.
• Supporting the training and induction of new team members.
• Monitoring staff performance and providing guidance where required.
• Providing an excellent standard of customer service.
• Dealing professionally with customer queries and resolving issues where appropriate.
• Building positive relationships with regular customers and the local community.
• Ensuring the shop is welcoming, well presented and fully stocked throughout the day.
• Supervising opening and closing procedures.
• Operating and overseeing tills and ensuring cash-handling procedures are followed.
• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering.
• Checking deliveries and ensuring stock is stored correctly.
• Reducing waste and monitoring stock rotation.
• Ensuring shelves, displays and promotional areas are well presented.
• Supporting the day-to-day operation of the deli and fresh food areas.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and presentation.
• Ensuring HACCP, health & safety and other relevant procedures are followed.
• Monitoring cleaning and housekeeping standards.
• Reporting any maintenance, stock or operational issues to management.
• Working closely with the owner/management to ensure the smooth running of the business.
• Identifying opportunities to improve customer service and retail operations.
• Assisting with promotions, seasonal displays and special events.
• Taking responsibility for the shop in the absence of management when required.

• Experienced in retail, ideally with previous supervisory or team-lead experience
• A confident and positive team leader

• Comfortable working in a busy retail environment
• Confident dealing with customers, suppliers and staff

Experience in grocery retail, deli, food service or convenience retail would be an advantage.

Hours

This is a full-time position with a flexible shift pattern, including weekdays, evenings and weekends. The role will require flexibility during particularly busy periods.
