BLUE FORGE RECRUITMENT is seeking an experienced Retail Assistant Manager for a Laois store. You will support the Store Manager, drive sales, and uphold high standards in fresh food operations.

The role requires 3-4 years in fresh food retail management, strong hygiene practices, and the ability to lead a motivated team. Located near Portlaoise, the store offers a competitive€36,000-€40,000 salary plus a €2k bonus, full-time contract, staff discounts, and career development opportunities.

• 3–4 years of fresh food retail management experience in a fast-paced store.

Retail Assistant Manager Co. Laois

Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate retailer who has 2- 3 years in Retail Management and ideally has a background in fresh food ordering. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to drive sales, drive standards particularly in fresh, lead and motivate a team in the fresh food areas, oversee day-to-day running of fresh food orders, hygiene management, waste control and the deli operation, including general shop management. This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving business, that is in growth and regularly achieving store audits and awards.

The store is located only on a 20 mins drive from Portlaoise, 20 minutes' drive from Kildare town and 30 mins from both Tullamore and Edenderry. Candidates with their own transport are preferred due to the location.

Key Responsibilities of this Assistant Manager job

• Support the Store Manager in the overall management and smooth day-to-day operation of a busy, professional, high-standard retail store.
• Monitor sales performance, analyse results, and implement strategies to achieve and exceed store targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Oversee stock management, including deliveries, replenishment, stock takes, inventory accuracy, and loss prevention.
• Support the implementation of promotional campaigns, product launches, and commercial initiatives to maximise sales opportunities.
• Manage cash handling, till operations, banking procedures, and end-of-day reconciliations in line with company policies.
• Ensure full compliance with company procedures, health and safety regulations, security standards, and operational guidelines.
• Assist with staff scheduling, shift planning, and the effective allocation of resources to maintain smooth operations during busy trading periods.
• Lead by example, fostering a positive, professional, and customer-focused team culture while maintaining consistently high retail standards.

Key Requirements for the Assistant Manager job

• 3-4 years of fresh food retail management experience within a professional, fast-paced retail environment, ideally in a premium or high-standard store.
• Food safety and hygiene management experience, ideally certified
• Strong commercial awareness, with experience monitoring sales, achieving targets, and improving key performance indicators.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a demanding retail environment.
• Experience in stock control, inventory management, cash handling, loss prevention, and daily store operations.
