Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails, APIs) to join a fully remote, globally distributed engineering team based in Ireland. You will develop and maintain Rails APIs, collaborating with stakeholders to automate workflows and deliver secure, scalable solutions.

You will participate in design discussions, write tests, review code, and contribute to engineering practices in an asynchronous environment.

Qualifications

At least 3 years of professional software development experience, with a focus on Ruby.
Proven experience developing and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications, including API decisions.
Effective Git skills and familiarity with established software development workflows.
Ability to translate stakeholder requirements into technically scoped tasks.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand workflows and identify API-driven improvements.
Design, develop, test, review, and release production Ruby on Rails APIs with security in mind.
Identify dependencies, communicate risks early, and seek guidance for scope changes.
Apply secure engineering practices when handling authentication, authorization, and sensitive data.
Investigate defects, add regression tests, and improve system reliability and maintainability.
Lead domain modeling and technical design discussions with Product and senior engineers.
Contribute to code reviews and document API behavior and decisions, mentoring teammates.
