Job summary

Jobgether seeks a Senior Backend Engineer with a Core APIs (SRE Focus) mindset, operating in a fully remote, globally distributed team. The role emphasizes building reliable backend systems, real-time services, and high-scale APIs with ownership across the lifecycle.

You will define service reliability objectives, improve observability, automate operations, and mentor peers while addressing fraud-prevention and performance challenges for diverse environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend engineering experience, including production systems.
• Formal SRE practices experience (error budgets, capacity planning, P-RRs).
• Strong hands-on Go and/or Node.js with willingness to learn the other tech.
• Design–build–maintain scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Practical production workloads on Docker and Kubernetes.
• IaC experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Observability platforms like Datadog for instrumentation and alerts.
• Production on-call, incident response, post-incident reviews.
• Strong SQL skills; experience with DynamoDB/Redis/Elasticsearch.
• Git, CI/CD, and standard software engineering practices.
• Distributed systems, reliability, and performance focus.
• Strong English communication in a remote team.
• Mentoring engineers and raising technical standards.
• CS degree welcome or equivalent experience.
• Experience with ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks is a plus.
• Cost optimization for high-throughput cloud workloads is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize backend services for real-time processing and APIs.
• Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for core APIs.
• Build observability with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerts.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead post-incident reviews.
• Automate operational tasks to reduce toil and outages.
• Capacity planning and load testing to scale with demand.
• Investigate production issues and drive engineering improvements.
• Integrate backend components across services and teams.
• Share best practices and drive reliability-focused culture.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical standards.
