Job summary

Mercor is seeking PDF annotation and transcription experts fluent in Odia for remote contract work. The role focuses on meticulous OCR-like tasks: marking page regions, assigning types, and ensuring exact Odia transcription while noting illegible sections.

You will also document metadata and cross-check work with a colleague to ensure high accuracy. Ideal candidates are native Odia speakers with proven experience in annotation or related linguistic/data-review tasks, capable of handling

Qualifications

• Must be a native Odia speaker with full command of the script.
• Exact character-level accuracy across tasks is required.
• Experience in annotation, transcription, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Source publicly accessible Odia PDFs for annotation.
• Identify and bound every meaningful region of the page with component types and reading order.
• Record relationships linking regions to parent components (figures/tables).
• Transcribe exactly as in Odia script, including handwritten content and flag illegible parts.
• Capture page metadata: language, type, source, page dimensions, and handwriting/ table flags.
• Review a colleague's work for end-to-end accuracy.
