Job summary

Arcon Recruitment Ireland seeks a talented Research & Development Engineer to join a progressive engineering and manufacturing business in County Mayo. You will manage R&D projects from concept through evaluation, develop plans, and monitor KPIs while collaborating across engineering, design and manufacturing teams.

The role requires an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, advanced SolidWorks skills, Revit/BIM coordination, and experience with CAD automation.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical design or building services engineering is advantageous.
• Advanced SolidWorks skills.
• Proficiency in Revit and BIM coordination.
• Experience with CAD automation software such as DriveWorks desirable.
• Strong project planning, reporting and organisational skills.
• Creative approach to solving engineering problems.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of product development and evaluation processes.
• Fluent English for business purposes.
• Legally permitted to work in Ireland or the EU.

Responsibilities

• Manage R&D projects from research and concept development through to evaluation.
• Develop project plans and maintain Gantt charts to ensure targets are achieved.
• Research emerging technologies, materials and engineering solutions.
• Prepare and present weekly project progress reports.
• Develop and continuously improve R&D processes.
• Establish and monitor departmental KPIs.
• Produce technical reports, documentation and instructional guides.
• Work closely with engineering, design and manufacturing teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, accuracy and product performance.
• Explore new technologies, including AI-supported engineering and design tools.
