R&D Project Engineer – Mechanical Engineering

An innovative and expanding engineering company based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo is seeking an ambitious R&D Project Engineer to join its Research & Development team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for product development, innovation and design. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing new products, improving existing designs and driving engineering innovation from concept through to production.

Working closely with senior engineering staff, you will be involved in every stage of the product development process while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate multiple R&D projects from concept through to implementation.
• Attend regular project meetings and provide progress updates.
• Develop and improve engineering and R&D processes.
• Maintain and update project plans, schedules and Gantt charts.
• Carry out technical research into new technologies, products and manufacturing methods.

Candidate Requirements

• Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in Mechanical Design, Product Development or Building Services Engineering is highly desirable.
• Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks.
• Experience using Revit and BIM software would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of CAD automation software such as DriveWorks is desirable.
• Strong technical report writing and documentation skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Creative approach to engineering design and product development.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good understanding of product development and engineering evaluation processes.
• Full authorisation to work in Ireland/EU.
