Job summary

Breagh Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for civil infrastructure and water projects in Galway (or Kildare). The role focuses on commercial and financial management, cost control and contract compliance on major schemes.

You will lead subcontractor accounts, prepare valuations, monitor costs, support monthly reports and assist in final accounts, reporting to the Commercial Manager and liaising with site teams and clients.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor role.
  • Background in civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience on large-scale public works or utilities projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage subcontractor accounts from procurement through final account.
  • Prepare and submit interim valuations and applications for payment.
  • Monitor project costs and carry out cost value reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly internal and client cost reports.
  • Support the management of variations, claims, and change control processes.
  • Measure quantities in line with standard methods of measurement.
  • Maintain accurate records for labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and commercial procedures.
  • Liaise with project teams to support programme and cost control.
  • Attend site and commercial meetings as required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Assist in final account preparation and project close-out.

Company: Civil Engineering Contractor delivering major water and infrastructure projects
Package: Up to €80,000 DOE + vehicle, bonus, pension and healthcare

The Company

This civil engineering contractor delivers major water, wastewater and infrastructure projects across Ireland, working on technically demanding civil engineering schemes and long-term utilities programmes.

With a strong workload across Galway, Kildare and the wider Irish market, the company is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor. The position offers long-term exposure to significant civil infrastructure and water projects.

The Role – Quantity Surveyor

As Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial and financial management of a major infrastructure project. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring cost control, contract compliance, and overall project profitability.

You will be involved from early-stage cost management through to final account, working closely with site teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure accurate reporting and commercial success.

About You
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor role
  • Background in civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Experience supporting large-scale public works or utilities projects
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills
  • Knowledge of Public Works Contracts in Ireland or the UK is advantageous
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Organised, detail-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • Full driving licence and eligible to work in Ireland
