Job summary

Global Professional Consultants is assisting Ireland’s Main Civil Contractors to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for their Midlands office. The role focuses on managing project costs, preparing estimates and bills of quantities, and administering NEC contracts within civil engineering projects.

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree, at least three years of QS experience, and strong skills in cost control, procurement, and contract administration.

Qualifications

• Relevant bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying/ estimation.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in quantity surveying within the civil engineering sector.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control, and procurement processes.
• Proven experience with NEC contracts is essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all project costs to ensure that projects are completed within budget.
• Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for our projects.
• Manage NEC contracts, including interpreting contract clauses, managing early warnings, and assessing compensation events.
• Analyse and assess variations, manage claims in compliance with NEC guidelines, and ensure timely resolution of any contract issues.
• Conduct cost analysis and risk management for ongoing projects.
• Oversee procurement processes, negotiate with subcontractors, and manage subcontractor performance.
• Prepare and present detailed reports on project financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Assist in the preparation of contract documents and manage contract variations.

Due to continued growth, new contracts and an extensive pipeline of work, Ireland’s Main Civil Contractors have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team working on a wide variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with NEC contracts and a strong background in civil engineering/construction projects. This role will be based in their Midlands office.
