Job summary

STRIVE Search in Ireland is seeking an ambitious Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Irish-owned cost management consultancy in Galway. You will work on a diverse portfolio across sectors, supporting pre- and post-contract activities and mentoring junior staff.

The role offers a €70,000 salary (DOE), a permanent position and a bonus, with duties including cost planning, cost control, cost reporting, valuations and final accounts.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' Quantity Surveying experience required.
• Strong understanding of cost planning, estimating, tendering and commercial management.
• Experience with pre-contract and/or post-contract activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with pre-contract cost planning, estimating and cost control.
• Provide cost advice to Clients and Design Teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities and contract documentation.
• Prepare cost reports, valuations and financial summaries.
• Monitor project costs against budgets.
• Review and manage variations, claims and associated costs.
• Assist with final accounts preparation and agreement.
• Attend Client and Design Team meetings.
• Review drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Collaborate with Senior QSs, Cost Managers, Clients and Design Teams.

A leading Irish-owned construction consultancy are looking to speak with an ambitious Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their growing cost management team.

This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor with 3+ years' experience who is looking to develop their career within a consultancy environment, gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with pre-contract cost planning, estimating and cost control.
• Provide cost advice to Clients and Design Teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities and contract documentation.
• Prepare cost reports, valuations and financial summaries.
• Monitor project costs against agreed budgets.
• Review and manage variations, claims and associated costs.
• Assist with the preparation, negotiation and agreement of final accounts.
• Attend Client and Design Team meetings.
• Review drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Work closely with Senior QSs, Cost Managers, Clients and Design Teams.
• Maintain accurate commercial and project records.
• Assist with the development of Junior and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.

Key Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant Quantity Surveying experience.
• Consultancy or cost management experience is desirable.
• Experience across pre-contract and/or post-contract activities.
• Strong understanding of cost planning, estimating, tendering and commercial management.
• Experience with cost reports, valuations, final accounts and contractual claims.
• Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills with excellent attention to detail.
