Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join one of our client's construction teams based in Cork.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to take responsibility for the successful delivery of one large-scale project or multiple construction sites.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with the Contracts Manager, site teams, commercial teams, subcontractors and clients, the Project Manager will provide strong leadership and technical expertise throughout the complete project lifecycle, from initial stages through to successful handover.

Role and Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of construction projects from initial stages through to completion and handover.
• Lead and manage project teams, providing strong leadership and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors, engineering teams and operational staff on site.
• Liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, Senior Engineers, Foremen, Quantity Surveyors and other key project stakeholders.
• Work closely with the Contracts Manager, providing regular updates on project progress and performance.
• Plan and manage weekly work programmes to ensure project activities remain on schedule.
• Prepare and provide weekly project progress reports.
• Monitor the site team and ensure key project milestones and programme targets are achieved.
• Manage the project design process in collaboration with the commercial and wider project teams.
• Ensure the construction programme remains aligned with budget and commercial objectives.
• Monitor project costs and maintain strong commercial awareness throughout project delivery.
• Attend and chair regular management and project meetings.
• Identify potential project risks, delays and operational issues and implement appropriate solutions.
• Ensure effective communication between site teams, subcontractors, clients and senior management.
• Manage project resources effectively to support successful project delivery.
• Drive performance across the project team and ensure demanding time, quality and commercial targets are achieved.
• Promote and reinforce a strong Health & Safety culture, working towards an accident‑free site.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the company's Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
• Manage the complete day-to-day lifecycle of the project through to successful completion and handover.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Project Manager or in a similar senior construction management position.
• Previous experience within the construction or civil engineering industry.
• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• A relevant Trade qualification or equivalent practical construction experience may also be considered.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of construction project delivery.
• Excellent leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Proven ability to manage, develop and motivate multidisciplinary project and site teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and effective negotiation skills.
• Good understanding of financial principles, project budgets and cost management.
• Ability to achieve demanding programme, quality and commercial targets.
• Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
• Strong technical knowledge and ability to resolve construction and project‑related issues.Excellent problem‑solving skills with a proactive and resourceful approach.
