GEDON is partnering with a leading international engineering and construction contractor to appoint a Project Director for major hyperscale Data Centre developments in Ireland and mainland Europe.

You will lead a substantial multidisciplinary team and drive delivery from pre-construction through commissioning and handover, maintaining accountability for programme, safety, quality and cost. The position offers autonomy and direct exposure to senior leadership.

We are partnered with a leading international engineering and construction contractor delivering some of Europe's largest and most technically complex Data Centre and Mission Critical developments.

With a significant pipeline of secured projects across Ireland and mainland Europe, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Project Director to take overall leadership responsibility for major hyperscale Data Centre projects.

The Opportunity

This is a senior operational leadership position offering overall responsibility for the successful delivery of a major Data Centre development from pre-construction through to commissioning and final handover.

As Project Director, you’ll lead a substantial multidisciplinary project team and coordinate CSA, MEP, Commercial, Planning, Design and Commissioning functions within a complex, fast-paced delivery environment.

You’ll act as the senior project interface with the client and wider stakeholder team, maintaining overall accountability for programme, commercial performance, quality and safety.

The Projects

You’ll lead major hyperscale and mission-critical developments, including:

• Major CSA packages
• Complex Mechanical and Electrical installations
• Commissioning-intensive mission-critical facilities
• Technically complex projects for leading international developers

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the delivery of major Data Centre projects.
• Establish and drive the project delivery strategy from pre-construction through commissioning and handover.
• Lead Project Managers, Construction Managers and senior project personnel.
• Coordinate CSA, MEP, Commercial, Planning, Design and Commissioning teams.
• Maintain overall accountability for programme, quality, safety and project performance.
• Act as the senior operational interface with the client, consultants and key stakeholders.
• Oversee major procurement and subcontractor packages.
• Drive integration between CSA, MEP and commissioning workstreams.
• Identify programme and delivery risks and implement mitigation and recovery strategies.
• Work closely with commercial leadership to maintain strong financial and contractual performance.
• Lead senior project and client meetings and report directly to company leadership.
• Ensure successful commissioning, completion and final project handover.
• Mentor and develop senior members of the project delivery team.

Required Experience & Background

• Proven experience operating as a Project Director, Project Lead or senior operational construction professional.
• Strong experience delivering large-scale Data Centre, Mission Critical or similarly complex engineering-led projects.
• Demonstrable experience taking overall responsibility for major construction programmes.
• Strong understanding of both CSA and MEP project delivery.
• Experience managing projects through commissioning and handover.
• Proven ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams within fast-paced project environments.
• Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Strong commercial, programme and project controls awareness.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous hyperscale Data Centre experience is highly advantageous.
• Experience working for a leading international main or engineering contractor.
• Strong understanding of CSA, MEP and commissioning interfaces.
• Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making capabilities.
