Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in Dublin, Ireland seeks a Product Engineer II to support the mechanical design and performance of European air-cooled chiller components and systems. You will contribute to new product development and work with production, lab, service, marketing, and applications teams across Europe.

You will apply fluid and thermal knowledge, perform detailed mechanical design work, and ensure compliance with CE, PED, and EN standards while mentoring newer staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on mechanical design experience.
• Knowledge of fluid and thermal principles applicable to chillers.
• Familiarity with European mechanical & refrigeration codes: CE, PED, Machinery Directive, EN 378.
• Ability to conceptualize and implement design ideas into products.
• Experience with 3D CAD and production drawings per ISO/EN standards.

Responsibilities

• Develops and applies understanding of fluid, thermal, refrigeration and mechanical aspects of air-cooled chillers.
• Performs mechanical design work on components and features under supervision.
• Applies European codes and directives (CE, PED, Machinery Directive) and EN standards.
• Writes product specs and coordinates documentation release.
• Collaborates with design, manufacturing, and product teams to balance cost, performance, and reliability.
• Executes test programs to validate performance and reliability; analyzes data to troubleshoot.
