Job summary

Blue Forge Recruitment in Ireland is seeking a passionate Retail Fresh Food Manager for a busy deli in Co. Kerry. You will lead a hands-on team, drive daily sales, maintain high food standards and optimize stock and waste.

The role requires 3-4 years in fresh-food management, strong HACCP knowledge, and commercial focus. Monday–Friday shifts with early starts, comprehensive benefits, and clear opportunity for career progression.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of management experience in a hands-on, fast-paced fresh-food environment.
• Strong knowledge of fresh-food stock control and deli ordering.
• Fully competent in HACCP and food safety procedures.
• Strong commercial awareness: sales, margins, waste control, and costs.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the deli department, including ready-made meals and hot/cold counters.
• Lead and support a team, distribute workloads, and ensure daily tasks are completed.
• Maintain stock levels and actively reduce waste, shrinkage, and unnecessary costs.
• Receive, store, label, date, rotate and display all fresh food in compliance with food safety requirements.
• Ensure HACCP compliance, hygiene records, allergen controls, and temperature checks.
• Drive promotional activities and new product launches, and respond professionally to customer inquiries.
• Assist with opening/closing, stocktakes, audits, and other operational duties as required.
• Continuously seek efficiencies to improve product availability, presentation, sales and customer satisfaction.

Our client is seeking a passionate and driven candidate to take ownership of their busy Fresh Food Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a background in Fresh food management, or Senior Catering Management and Food Service Management to lead and motivate a dedicated team while driving daily sales, maintaining exceptional food standards, and achieving departmental targets. The role is based in a well-established store, conveniently located approximately 25 minutes from Listowel and 35 minutes from Killarney. The successful candidate will have strong people management and leadership skills, along with a strong understanding of HACCP, food safety standards, stock control, inventory management, and waste reduction. You will also work closely with the Store Manager to maximise sales and profit margins, while building strong relationships with suppliers and ensuring the highest standards of customer service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about fresh food, enjoys leading a team, and is eager to progress their career in Fresh Food Management.
