Job summary

Blue Forge Recruitment represents a leading Cork supermarket chain seeking a Fresh Food Manager to run the busy department and drive sales and food production targets.

You will oversee deli and hot/cold counters, manage a team, control stock and waste, and ensure HACCP compliance while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years' experience in a supervisory, team leader, or assistant management role within fresh food, deli, grocery, or a similar retail environment.
• Previous experience managing fresh food products, with strong knowledge of stock control, ordering, and waste reduction.
• Excellent customer service skills with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational, communication, and leadership abilities.
• Ability to motivate and develop a team while creating a positive and professional working environment.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and safe food handling procedures.
• Strong understanding of fresh food presentation, quality control, and stock rotation.
• A proactive, reliable, and hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the fresh food department, including deli, hot and cold food counters.
• Lead, support, and manage a team, ensuring high standards of customer service and efficient day-to-day operations.
• Monitor stock levels, manage ordering, and maintain effective stock rotation to minimise waste and ensure product availability.
• Ensure all fresh food products meet high standards of quality, freshness, presentation, hygiene, and food safety.
• Maintain accurate HACCP, temperature, cleaning, and food safety records in line with company procedures.
• Train, coach, and motivate team members, supporting their development and maintaining a positive and productive working environment.
• Ensure the department is well presented, fully stocked, and operating efficiently throughout the day.
• Take a hands-on approach to supporting the team and resolving any operational or customer issues promptly.

We are delighted to assist a highly successful supermarket chain in Cork, known for its distinguished stores and commitment to excellence in fresh food retail. Our client is seeking an experienced Fresh Food Manager to run their busy department and motivate the team to perform well to achieve sales and food production targets. This store is situated on an accessible commuter belt and only a 22 min drive from Kinsale and a 25 min drive from Fermoy. A suitable candidate will have knowledge of HACCP, merchandising and inventory and waste control. This job also requires working closely with the store manager to upsell/cross sell products, engaging with suppliers to build good relationships and managing staff and customer queries. If you are an experienced in Fresh Food and want to pursue down the Management line than this job is the right fit for you.
