Job summary

Toast, Inc. is seeking a Principal Technical Product Manager to bring discipline to TechOps work. You will own customer insight, value definition, product strategy and roadmap recommendations for Comprehensive Operational Reporting and FinOps tools used to manage COGS and software capitalization.

You will collaborate with Finance, Engineering, and SRE tooling teams, shaping requirements, pilots, and adoption strategies. A hybrid role requires two days in the office per week.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of technical product management experience, including data, analytics, reporting or internal platform products.
• Track record of user research and discovery: interviews, jobs-to-be-done, usability testing, and turning evidence into requirements.
• Experience turning ambiguous, compliance-driven problems into crisp PRDs, success metrics and phased plans.
• Comfort with data: writing SQL, data pipelines, data models, and metric definitions.

Responsibilities

• Get close to internal customers. Run user research with R&D leaders, engineering managers and Finance to understand decisions and jobs to be done.
• Shape the product strategy. Develop and drive the strategy for TechOps products aligned with Toast's goals.
• Turn business needs into measurable requirements. Write PRDs with success criteria.
• Develop roadmap recommendations each quarter with engineering input and surface tradeoffs.
