Job summary

Toast is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Scheduling product as part of the Team Management Suite for restaurant operators. You will design, implement, and deliver scalable software that helps restaurant owners balance profitability, predictability for employees, and guest satisfaction.

You will lead fellow developers, collaboratively turn goals into production-ready code, mentor peers, and push engineering excellence while influencing product design and feature choices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend/full-stack software development delivering impactful products.
• Proficient with TypeScript, REST, GraphQL, and relational databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Ability to design high-level technical solutions while staying connected to code and performance.
• Excellent communication to explain complex ideas to peers and leadership.
• Experience mentoring peers and working in ambiguous, agile environments.
• Strong customer empathy and focus on user experience and continuous product improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead fellow developers, product managers, and designers to build Scheduling features and grow Toast's footprint.
• Turn ambiguous goals into production-ready code within a collaborative team.
• Elevate engineering quality across teams through code reviews and mentorship.
• Contribute to product design and feature selection discussions.
