Job summary

KKR is launching a Technology & Engineering Centre of Excellence in Dublin. We seek a Principal Engineer to define the technical vision for core parts of our stack, combining data, analytics and applications to drive business value.

You will mentor engineers, establish architectural standards, and lead cloud-native initiatives using AWS, PostgreSQL, Python and React, with AI-assisted development, security and reliability at the forefront.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership across complex, distributed systems.
• Experience designing and scaling cloud-based platforms (AWS strongly preferred).
• Expertise in object-oriented languages (Python, Java, C++) and modern front-end frameworks such as React.
• Strong database knowledge (SQL & NoSQL), with experience in optimizing data models, caching, and performance.
• Proficient in leveraging AI tools within the developer workflow to enhance productivity.
• Effective communicator who can connect technical vision to business goals.
• Experienced mentor who elevates the skills and judgment of others.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for finance and investment technology.
• Strategic thinker who values simplicity, automation, and measurable results.
• Proven ownership in fast-paced, dynamic business environments.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision for key parts of our stack and shape how data, analytics, and applications come together.
• Design scalable systems and set standards for design, testing, observability, and CI/CD.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical depth across teams.
• Lead architecture and technical strategy for cloud-native systems supporting investment operations.
• Drive reliability, security, and compliance across platforms.
• Collaborate with recruitment and talent development to grow engineering capability.
