Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Platform Engineer II to build and operate cloud and platform capabilities supporting implantable cardiac devices. You will work with global teams to deliver reliable experiences for clinicians and patients, across the software lifecycle.

The role emphasizes ownership, rapid delivery, and a culture of continuous improvement in a hybrid Galway-based environment with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline, with relevant experience; or advanced degree.
• Experience using infrastructure as code (Terraform/Helm) to manage environments.
• Experience implementing monitoring and observability with Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk or OpenTelemetry.
• Strong ownership, initiative and ability to deliver in a fast-paced setting.
• Collaborative communication and focus on patient outcomes via connected health tech.

Responsibilities

• Develop, operate, and support shared engineering platforms and services.
• Build automation, tools, runbooks to improve developer productivity and platform reliability.
• Implement, test, deploy, and support platform capabilities with supervision.
• Contribute to design discussions across software, cloud, security, reliability.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and propose improvements to systems.
• Partner with engineers, architects, security, data, and infra teams to achieve milestones.
• Provide guidance to entry-level engineers when appropriate.
