Job summary

McElvaney Motors in Dublin is seeking an experienced Parts Advisor to support our service department and customers. You will interpret customer needs, advise on parts, and ensure stock is well managed in a busy workshop environment.

The role requires strong English communication, a full clean driving licence, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Hours are 9am–6pm, Monday–Friday, with one Saturday per month, based in Finglas.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Parts Advisor or in a similar role.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Full Clean Driver’s Licence.
• Basic computer skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good automotive knowledge is a plus.
• Strong customer-facing experience.

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer needs and advise the right parts to meet their needs.
• Support ongoing and upcoming technical and sales campaigns.
• Support the workshop with parts availability and queries.
• Maintain stock and ensure timely reordering.
• Pre-picking parts in accordance with workshop schedule.
• Forecasting stock requirements and placing orders.
• Handle incoming goods and returns including warranties.
• Provide technicians with parts-related technical support.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in person and over the phone.
• Keep the parts department clean and organized.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Parts Advisor to assist our customers and support our service department. This role requires excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret customer needs and advise the right parts to ensure their needs are met
• Support ongoing as well as upcoming technical and sales campaigns
• Support the workshop with parts availability and queries.
• Ensure stock is put away in timely manner
• Maintain an accurate inventory of parts and ensure timely reordering when needed.
• Pre-picking parts in accordance with workshop schedule and customer needs
• Forecasting stock requirements
• Placing orders with suppliers
• Understand and work according to parts related DOS standards
• Handle Incoming Goods
• Maintain a clean and organized parts department
• Handle returns including organising the return of cores, packaging material, warranty and bought back goods
• Provide technicians with parts related technical support
• Provide exceptional customer service both in person and over the phone

Key Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Parts Advisor or in a similar role within the HGV / Motor industry is preferred
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English
• Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team
• Experience in customer facing role
• Good automotive technical knowledge is a distinct advantage but not essential
• Basic computer skills essential
• Full Clean Driver’s Licence
• Can-do attitude and common-sense approach to tasks

Hours: 9am – 6pm, Monday – Friday, one Saturday per month (9am-1pm)

Location: Finglas, Dublin 11

Payment: Depends on Experience
