Job summary

The School Food Company is seeking a hands‑on Catering Assistant to prepare fresh lunches and work in a busy school kitchen environment. Based at St. Anne's School, Ennis, Co. Clare, this fixed-term, part-time role offers 10–15 hours per week with shift times around 8:00am–2:30pm.

Garda Vetting and a Child Protection Course are required; experience in catering is an advantage, and training in HACCP will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Cook from scratch, prep, and cook fresh ingredients.

The School Food Company prepares fresh, healthy lunches cooked daily in onsite school kitchens. We have been in operation since 2011. We are looking for a hands‑on Catering Assistant who enjoys preparing fresh food and working in a busy kitchen environment.

Location: St. Anne's School, Lifford, Ennis, Co. Clare

Hours: 10–15 hrs/week

Shift Time: Approx. 8:00am–2:30pm

About the Role

• Cooking from scratch: peeling, chopping, prepping, and cooking fresh ingredients (no raw meat handled)
• Leading daily kitchen operations in a fast‑paced environment - rostering, placing orders with food service providers, recruiting and supervising staff, ensuring food safety and Company policies are adhered to.
• Delivering freshly cooked lunches to classrooms
• Maintaining high HACCP food safety standards

Who This Suits

• Someone available Monday–Friday with flexibility for the rotating roster
• Not suitable for those with fixed weekday commitments or part‑time education

Requirements

• Willingness to move between schools within a 30‑minute drive when needed
• Garda Vetting and Child Protection Course required
• Experience in catering or home cooking is an advantage, but a positive attitude is essential
