Job description

Operations Manager | HVAC / Mechanical Services

Location: Dublin, Office-Based
Salary: €65,000 to €73,000 + Bonus + Pension
Reporting to: Operations Director
Industry: HVAC / Mechanical Services

The Opportunity

An established and growing Mechanical Services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to join its Dublin operation.

This is a key role within the Projects Team, taking responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of labour across multiple projects and sites. You'll work closely with the Operations Director and Project Directors to ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time, while acting as an important link between the office and field-based teams.

The position would particularly suit an experienced HVAC professional who understands the demands of a busy mechanical contracting environment and enjoys organising people, solving problems and keeping operations running smoothly.

This is primarily an office-based position in Dublin 12, with occasional travel to project sites.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Coordinate weekly labour allocation across multiple projects and sites.

  • Manage the day-to-day deployment of approximately 10 Mechanical Tradespeople and 15 Apprentices.

  • Monitor workforce requirements and ensure projects are appropriately resourced.

  • Act as a key point of contact for site-based employees, building strong relationships with tradespeople and apprentices.

  • Coordinate annual leave requests and workforce scheduling for field staff.

  • Work closely with Project Directors regarding upcoming labour and resource requirements.

  • Support apprentice development in conjunction with the Apprentice Skills Manager.

  • Assist the payroll team with timesheet reviews and the resolution of queries.

  • Work closely with the Operations Director to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

  • Support and maintain company procedures and ISO standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

  • Produce workforce and operational reports as required.

  • Undertake occasional site visits to maintain visibility and engagement with project teams.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes and procedures.

What We're Looking For

For this appointment, three things are particularly important: strong HVAC industry experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to work from the Dublin 12 office on a daily basis.

The successful candidate should also have:

  • Extensive experience within the HVAC industry.

  • A strong understanding of mechanical services and project-based environments.

  • Experience coordinating labour, resources or field-based teams.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities.

  • The confidence to manage changing priorities in a busy operational environment.

  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of day-to-day issues.

  • Good Microsoft Office skills.

  • A full clean driving licence.

Experience within an ISO-accredited environment would be beneficial, as would strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the operational demands of a mechanical contracting business.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HVAC professional looking to take on a highly visible and influential operational position.

While the Operations Manager will not have formal line management responsibility, you will have a significant impact on the daily working lives of the field-based team, coordinating labour allocation, site assignments and leave while helping the wider Projects Team operate effectively.

You'll be joining an established business where your HVAC knowledge, operational judgement and ability to communicate with people at all levels will be genuinely valued.
