Job summary

Versatile Group in Navan, Ireland, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its HVAC division. You will design, specify and size HVAC systems, including MVHR, AHUs, FCUs, heating and cooling, and work with contractors, consultants and clients across projects.

You'll lead design, estimation, commissioning and after-sales support, mentor junior staff and stay current with energy efficiency standards and Irish regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience in HVAC, mechanical engineering, building services or related field.
• Strong understanding of HVAC and building services.
• Experience in design, specification, selection, estimation, commissioning or servicing of HVAC systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and schematics.
• Commercial awareness and a practical engineering approach.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Full clean driving licence with flexibility to travel to customer sites.
• Work independently and as part of a wider engineering and sales team.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical sales support, including equipment selection, quotations, estimates and tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications and project requirements to develop practical and commercially viable solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, equipment schedules, calculations and project documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to contractors, consultants, clients and internal teams.
• Carry out site surveys, inspections, commissioning, fault-finding and system assessments.
• Liaise with European manufacturers on product selection, technical queries and warranty matters.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and industry partners.
• Keep up to date with HVAC technology, energy efficiency and relevant building regulations.
• Support and mentor junior members of the team where required.

Versatile Group is one of Ireland’s leading suppliers of technical heating, cooling and ventilation solutions. Established in 1984, we work with leading European manufacturers to deliver high-performance solutions across commercial and domestic projects throughout Ireland.

Our HVAC division combines technical expertise with project support, from system design and specification through to commissioning and after-sales service.

We’re now looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in Navan.

The Role

This is a varied technical role covering HVAC design, equipment selection, estimation, technical sales support, commissioning and after-sales service.

You’ll work closely with contractors, consultants, manufacturers and clients, providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle — from initial system selection and quotation through to installation, commissioning and ongoing support.

The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, develop strong industry relationships and become a key technical resource within our HVAC division.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, M&E or a related field.
• Strong technical understanding of HVAC and building services.
• Experience in the design, specification, selection, estimation, commissioning or servicing of HVAC systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and schematics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and a practical approach to engineering solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Full clean driving licence with flexibility to travel to customer sites.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering and sales team.
• Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Hevacomp, IES VE, HAP or similar software.
• Knowledge of MVHR, AHUs, FCUs, heat pumps, chilled water, heating, controls and associated HVAC technologies.
• Experience in commissioning, fault-finding, service or maintenance.
• Knowledge of CIBSE, ASHRAE, BREEAM, LEED or relevant Irish/European regulations.
• Experience working with European HVAC manufacturers.
