Job summary

Digital Realty is seeking a Network Service Engineer in Dublin to monitor and maintain the interconnectivity network, troubleshoot incidents, and coordinate with providers to minimize downtime. You will handle real-time monitoring, ticket management, and incident resolution while reporting on performance and improvements.

The role requires a telecommunications degree and hands-on experience with Juniper/Ciena/Cisco gear, NOC operations, and familiarity with VMware/Linux.

Qualifications

• Degree in telecommunications or equivalent.
• Experience with Juniper, Ciena and Cisco equipment; professional certifications are a plus.
• NOC/Managed Services experience in data centers, telecoms, ISP, or cloud providers.
• Data center/co-location experience is advantageous.
• Hands-on with network monitoring tools and trouble-ticketing systems.
• Strong TCP/IP fundamentals and routing principles.
• LAN/WAN troubleshooting in co-location environments.
• IP/MPLS knowledge; Juniper MX Series desirable.
• Optical Ethernet/Transport networks experience (Ciena 6500/Waveserver AI desirable).
• VMware and Linux experience.
• Cloud connectivity familiarity (Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect, Google Interconnect) is a plus.
• Scripting in Python or Ansible a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Real-Time Monitoring: monitor network health, traffic, and performance metrics.
• Trouble Ticket Support: manage tickets with vendors and providers and support customer-facing tickets.
• Incident Management & Resolution: detect, analyze, and resolve outages or performance degradation.
• Maintenance & Updates: assist with hardware, firmware, and patch updates.
• Reporting: analyze performance and suggest infrastructure improvements.
• Adhere to SLAs/OLAs/KPIs and document progress in tickets.
• Provide updates to tickets and communicate with stakeholders.
• Coordinate with external suppliers and internal teams to minimize downtime.
• Stay updated on new network tech and tools.
