Job summary

Childvision in Dublin, Ireland is seeking a practical General Maintenance Operative to carry out maintenance, refurbishment and decorating works across the premises and grounds. You will work both independently and as part of a team, following instructions and health and safety procedures.

The role covers painting, carpentry, plumbing and general repairs, with emphasis on safety, quality and timely completion. A hands-on, reliable approach and ability to use hand and power tools are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a general operative, maintenance or multi-trade role.
• Practical knowledge and experience of general building maintenance and repairs.
• Experience in painting and decorating, carpentry, plastering, plumbing, tiling and general repairs is desirable.
• Ability to use a range of hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to identify potential hazards and take appropriate precautions before commencing work.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and complete tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repairs as directed by management.
• Undertake a variety of multi-trade tasks, including painting and decorating, basic carpentry, plumbing, gardening, plastering and tiling.
• Maintain buildings, facilities and grounds to a high standard.
• Carry out routine inspections, repairs and report defects requiring attention.
• Ensure work is completed to a high standard of workmanship within timescales.
• Ensure safe use, maintenance and storage of tools and equipment.
• Keep work areas clean, tidy and hazard-free during and after work.
• Complete appropriate risk assessments before hazardous activities.
• Follow health and safety procedures, especially at height and when using ladders, tools or chemicals.
• Report accidents, hazards and maintenance issues promptly to the line manager.
• Keep the line manager informed of work undertaken and progress.
• Assist with moving and handling materials safely.
• Work cooperatively with colleagues and contractors.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the line manager.
