Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Marine Operations Manager to lead the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of marine operations. This is a senior role with responsibility for vessel operations, crews, logistics, regulatory compliance, operational performance and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day marine and vessel operations.
- Coordinate crews, port activities, logistics, maintenance and operational resources.
- Ensure compliance with Irish, UK, EU and international maritime regulations, as well as client requirements.
- Maintain high standards across health, safety, environment and quality.
- Work closely with vessel crews, port authorities, contractors, customers and regulatory bodies.
- Monitor operational performance, costs and service delivery, driving continuous improvement.
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations and corrective actions.
- Support vessel inspections, audits, surveys and regulatory inspections.
- Manage and develop operational personnel and promote a strong safety culture.
- Partner with the Technical Manager to maintain vessel readiness.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, procurement and cost control.
- Maintain emergency response and contingency plans.
- Provide operational reporting to senior management and contribute to strategic planning.
About You
Our client is looking for a confident, commercially aware marine professional who combines strong leadership with a practical, hands-on approach.
You will ideally have:
- Significant shore-based experience in marine operations, vessel operations, fleet management or a similar senior maritime role.
- A relevant maritime qualification or professional certification.
- Strong knowledge of marine safety, operational procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with vessel crews, ports, contractors and regulatory authorities.
- Proven leadership and people-management skills.
- Strong commercial, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- A commitment to safety, environmental protection and operational excellence.
- A full driving licence and flexibility to travel, including internationally and at short notice.
Desirable Experience
Experience in some of the following would be advantageous:
- Senior seagoing roles
- ISM, ISPS and MLC compliance
- DPA / CSO qualifications
- ISO 9001 / 14001 and auditing
- SOLAS and MARPOL
- Fleet or vessel management
- Offshore marine operations
- Marine logistics and procurement
- Crew qualification legislation
- Emergency response and incident management
- Marine safety management systems
