Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment seeks a Maintenance Technician for a well‑established food processing business in Cork. The role involves routine maintenance, safety checks and support for electrical/mechanical automation in a fast-paced production environment.

You will install and maintain equipment, develop maintenance routines, and work with the wider operations team to resolve issues. Part-time hours with potential for full-time, based in Cork.

Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining manufacturing systems and equipment in a processing/production environment.
  • Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering qualification or strong technical knowledge.
  • Good understanding of electrical and mechanical automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks across production equipment.
  • Support safe operation of electrical and mechanical automation systems.
  • Assist with mechanical maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns.
  • Maintain controls, sensors, pneumatics and electrical systems.
  • Assist development and implementation of preventative and predictive maintenance routines.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Collaborate with the wider team and resolve maintenance issues.

About Your New Employer

Our client is a well-established food processing business with a strong presence in the Irish market. Operating within a fast-paced production environment, the company has a strong focus on quality, safety and operational efficiency.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business where you will work closely with the wider operations and maintenance teams and have hands‑on involvement with a variety of production equipment and systems.

The role is expected to be based3 days per week in Cork.

About Your New Job

As the Maintenance Technician, you will:

  • Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks across production equipment and systems.
  • Support the safe and efficient operation of electrical and mechanical automation systems.
  • Assist with routine mechanical maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns when required.
  • Maintain controls, sensors, pneumatics and electrical systems within a fast-paced production facility.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of preventative and predictive maintenance routines and engineering procedures.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Work closely with the wider team while also using your own initiative to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
What Skills You Need
  • Previous experience maintaining manufacturing systems and equipment within a processing or production environment.
  • A qualification or strong technical knowledge inElectrical and/or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Good understanding of electrical and mechanical automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer and report‑writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational and time‑management skills.
