Job summary

Wallace Myers International in Co. Wicklow is seeking an experienced Fitter to join a busy agri-food processing facility. You will deliver planned and preventative maintenance across milling, drying and seed processing plant, and fault-find and repair mechanical equipment.

Welding skills are essential and a safety-first mindset is required. The role involves site travel, is 40 hours per week, and offers from €30 per hour with 20 days leave and overtime opportunities.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client is a well-established name in the agri-food sector, operating a busy processing facility in Co. Wicklow. With a strong reputation built over many years, they are known for investing in both their equipment and their people and are now looking to strengthen their maintenance team with an experienced Fitter.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and preventative maintenance across milling, drying, and seed processing plant, including lubrication and general servicing.
• Fault-find and repair mechanical equipment such as motors, conveyors, belts, and augers.
• Identify and resolve issues on pneumatic systems.
• Apply structured problem-solving to get to the root cause of mechanical and structural faults, and put lasting fixes in place rather than temporary patches.
• Undertake welding and fabrication tasks to repair or replace worn or damaged parts.
• Help shape and keep up to date the site's maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Keep clear, accurate maintenance records and logs.
• Collaborate with production staff and the wider maintenance function to support day-to-day operations.
• Travel to support other company sites with maintenance and repairs when required.
• Follow all health & safety standards and site procedures at all times.
  

Criteria

• Solid background in a maintenance, fitting, or mechanical role, ideally gained in a milling, agricultural, or broader industrial setting.
• Strong hands-on mechanical ability and confidence working on plant and machinery.
• Welding skills are essential for this role.
• Some electrical knowledge would be beneficial, though not essential.
• Comfortable working as part of a close-knit maintenance team.
• A safety-first mindset and a keen eye for detail.
