Job summary

MasterTherm Ireland Ltd. seeks a Commercial HVAC Design Consultant to join our technical team. This role targets engineers developing into a specialist in heat pumps, low-carbon building services, and advanced HVAC design.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering or related field.
• Strong understanding of heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
• Interest in heat pumps, renewable heating and low-carbon building design.
• Ability to understand mechanical schematics, drawings and technical specs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear communication of technical concepts to engineers, contractors and clients.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and commercial awareness.
• Willingness to learn and develop technically for a long-term career.

Responsibilities

• Work with design teams during concept and detailed design stages of commercial HVAC projects.
• Review building heat-loss, cooling-load and ventilation requirements.
• Develop preliminary HVAC concepts around commercial heat pump technology.
• Assist with design of heat pump plant rooms including cascades; buffers and hydraulic separation; pumping arrangements; weather-compensated heating circuits; high/low-temperature heating; cooling; DHW generation; hybrid systems; heat recovery.
• Support selection and application of commercial air-to-water and water-to-water heat pumps.
• Assist with design and specification of AHU, MHRV and heat-recovery ventilation systems.
• Review ventilation requirements, airflow, heat recovery, coils and demand-controlled ventilation strategies.
• Develop plant-room schematics and assist consultants with mechanical specs.
• Review consultant drawings, schedules and tender documentation and provide technical recommendations.
• Prepare equipment selections, technical submissions, performance calculations and supporting quotations.
• Work with MasterTherm technical team to develop project-specific control strategies.
• Support integration between heat pumps, HVAC systems and BMS using BACnet and Modbus.
• Attend design meetings with consultants, contractors and clients.
• Undertake site surveys to understand existing systems and identify retrofit solutions.
