Job Description
The Assistant Educator is responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the SAC in collaboration with the leader, ensuring a high‑quality, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all children.
Key Responsibilities
Play
- Support children’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development.
- Adapt play to meet the individual needs and interests of each child.
Room Assistant
- Support daily routines and activities within the SAC.
- Take part in tasks effectively to support assistants.
- Ensure the room is safe, clean, and welcoming at all times.
- Build strong relationships with children and their families.
Compliance & Child Safety
- Ensure full compliance with Tusla regulations and relevant early years legislation.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Follow all health, safety, and child protection policies and procedures.
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support smooth daily operations and a positive team environment.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings, training sessions, and staff development days.
Professional Practice
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training.
- Be a role model for best practices in SAC.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum Level 5 qualification in Early Childhood Care & Education.
- Experience working with children.
Experience Required
- 3 years of experience working with children and adults.
- Experience in a leadership or room leader role.
- Knowledge of inclusive practices and additional needs.
Desirable but Not Essential
- First Aid, Manual Handling, and Children First (TUSLA) training.
