Job summary

Donegalchildcare is seeking an Afterschool Leader for Rockfield National School, Knocknashangan, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. The role supports SAC operation 25 hours per week and works with an assistant to provide a high‑quality, inclusive learning environment for children.

Qualifications

• First Aid, Manual Handling, and Children First (TUSLA) training desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Adapt play to meet the individual needs and interests of each child.
• Manage daily routines and activities within the SAC.
• Take part in tasks effectively to support assistants.
• Ensure the room is safe, clean, and welcoming at all times.
• Build strong relationships with children and their families.
• Ensure full compliance with Tusla regulations and relevant early years legislation.
• Maintain accurate records, including attendance.
• Follow all health, safety, and child protection policies and procedures.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support smooth daily operations and a positive team environment.
• Attend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development days.

Purpose of the Role
