Job summary

Amey is seeking a permanent Lead Senior Structural / Bridge Engineer to join the Consulting Structures team in Dublin. You will lead bridge engineering projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across Ireland and the UK, with flexible hybrid working options and a modern Docklands office.

The role emphasizes ownership of deliverables, strong technical leadership, and a focus on safety, quality, and client liaison within national infrastructure programmes.

Qualifications

• Experience in Structures field, likely at Senior Engineer level or equivalent.
• Knowledge of structural design processes and procedures.
• Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions meeting standards.
• Takes ownership for deliverables and checks to a high standard.
• Proficiency in relevant software and analytical tools (e.g., LUSAS, Autodesk SBD).
• Demonstrates commercial awareness and risk management.
• Understands interface management and alignment with other disciplines.
• Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, ICE or IStructE desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team and deliver bridge engineering projects from start to finish.
• Produce or review designs, calculations, and drawings to meet quality, cost, and schedule.
• Perform structural assessments and inspections as required.
• Mentor junior staff and support professional development.
• Coordinate with clients and suppliers and participate in progress meetings.
• Drive health, safety and welfare practices within the team.
• Support bid preparation and work-winning activities.
