Job summary

Amey is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer in Dublin to join our Consulting Structures team, delivering bridge projects for Ireland and the UK.

Based in Dublin Docklands at The Freight Building, you will lead multi-disciplinary design teams, mentor juniors, and drive safety and quality across schemes from feasibility to handover.

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of Health and Safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead bridge engineering projects from start to finish, from quotation to handover.
  • Perform structural assessments and inspections.
  • Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and deliverables.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Oversee a small, locally based discipline team and ensure workload delivery.
  • Contribute to bids and work-winning activities.
  • Drive effective Health and Safety practices within the team.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Consulting Structures team in Dublin.

What you will be doing

Our Senior Structural Engineers play an important part within Consulting Structures team. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will provide effective support and assistance to your Technical Director on a variety of Structures public transport schemes, whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior engineers and technicians. As part of our Dublin team, you’ll work on local projects and support initiatives in Ireland and the UK remotely. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions.
  • Taking ownership and leading bridge engineering projects from start to finish, from preparing the quotation all the way to handover, including:
  • Structural assessments
  • Principal Inspections / Special Inspections
  • Feasibility and other technical reports
  • Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme.
  • Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions.
  • Contributing to the professional development of junior staff.
  • Liaising with Client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries.
  • Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of their workload.
  • Contributing to the preparation of bids and general work winning function.
  • Drive effective Health and Safety practices within the team.
We want to hear from you if you have
  • Developedexperience and expertise within Structures field, probably gained in an Engineerroleor equivalent.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of structural design processes and procedures.
  • An ability to produceor oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and Client’s requirements.
  • Takes ownership for the preparation and checking of deliverables and can check deliverables to a reasonable standard.
  • Very good working knowledge of relevant software and similar analytical tools (e.g LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).
  • Demonstrates good commercial awareness.
  • Has a good understanding of Safety, Health & Welfare and risk assessment.
  • Substantially experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects and ensures appropriate risk mitigation and transference has been applied.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of interface management, and ensures own deliverables align with deliverables produced by other disciplines.
  • Incorporated or Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, ICE or IStructE. or an equivalent professional licence gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned is desirable and may be essential on particular contracts.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
