Eurofins Scientific in Dungarvan operates an INAB accredited food microbiology laboratory. The role of Laboratory Technicians is to prepare and analyse customer food samples with emphasis on efficiency, quality and accuracy.

This is a full-time role working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday with shifts from 11:45 to 20:00 (Mon-Thu) and 11:30 to 20:00 (Fri). You will follow SOPs, maintain documentation and ensure 17025 compliance, contributing to reliable testing results and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Our Eurofins Food Microbiology Laboratory in Dungarvan is an INAB accredited analytical testing facility. The role of Laboratory Technicians is to prepare and analyse customer food samples keeping in mind efficiency, quality and accuracy standards as required by the company.

This is a full time role working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday - Monday to Thursday 11:45 to 20:00 and Friday 11:30 to 20:00.

• Preparation of food samples for analysis.
• Become competent in the laboratory work practices and requirements that facilitate analysis.
• Become familiar with all relevant laboratory test methods and procedures i.e. SOP’s.
• Ensure Compliance to the 17025 standard at all times by adhering to the in house quality procedures provided.
• Complete all documentation on time, accurately and legibly.
• Ensure that all documentation relating to customer samples is filed.
• Ensure that the laboratory is stocked with pipettes, autoclave bags etc.
• Clean laboratory equipment as required, including fridges, incubators water baths etc.
• Ensure that all sanitiser bottles and beakers are filled and changed regularly and the correct control labels are attached to them.
• Ensure that there are no reagents or media available in the laboratory that have past their expiry date.
• Check weights and temperatures for testing in line with company procedures.
• Keep yourtraining sheets up to date and initiate training where possible when able to do so.
• Adhere to all company standards in the area of safety, housekeeping and quality, notifying a Senior Technician or Laboratory Manager of any discrepancies.
• Keep the laboratory area clean and tidy.
• Provide cover for other members of staff as required and participating in the Weekend Rota.
• Be flexible to work in any area of the business as is required.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in Food Science, Microbiology or other relevant subject. Or working experience in a food testing laboratory.
• Good communication skills, both spoken and written.
• To be organised and be able to planwork thoroughly, notifying and involving other areas where required.
• To be customer orientated,working to exceed customer’s expectations and handling all dealings with customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
• To be able a good team player.
